August was relatively hot in most of Kazakhstan, rainy in the northeastern half, in places in the center and in the south-east of the country.
Despite the abnormal heat in some days of August, the absolute highs of previous years have not been updated. So, on August 11 in Pavlodar, the maximum air temperature reached +37.3°C, but on August 10, 2002, +40.6°C was recorded, on the same day in Kyzylorda there was a strong heat of +42.5°C, but the absolute maximum from August 09, 2002 was +44.7°C. On August 14, 36.4 °C was recorded in Karaganda, but the absolute maximum, which was observed on August 10, 2002 (+40.2 °C), was not updated. August 15th in Turkestan's maximum temperature reached +41.5°C, but on August 20, 1947 it was much hotter than +46.5°C, on the same day in Ust-Kamenogorsk it was +36.9°C, which is lower than the record of August 10, 2002 (+42.1°C). On August 16, Almaty, the air warmed up to +38.6°C, on August 28 - +35.8°C, on August 31 - +36.8°C, but the record that was set on August 09, 1944 (+40.5°C) was not blocked.
Records for the amount of precipitation were recorded: on August 17, heavy rain fell on Yertis MS (Pavlodar region), with a monthly norm of 39 mm, on August 26 on Terekty MS (East Kazakhstan region) - 37 mm (the norm is 29 mm).
The highest air temperature in the capital was observed on August 01 and amounted to +38.4 °C. The lowest air temperature was recorded on the night of August 31 and amounted to +5.6°C. During August, 50 mm of rain fell, which is 160%, compared to the monthly norm of 31 mm.
