Heat record set 111 years ago has been broken in Kazakhstan

July 2026 in Kazakhstan was remembered for extreme heat and temperature records in several regions at once.
In Turkestan, the air warmed up to +47.6 degrees, and in Shymkent, the temperature record set 111 years ago was broken.
According to Kazhydromet, in July, the air temperature in most of Kazakhstan was 1-4 degrees above normal.
In Almaty, from July 16 to July 20, four temperature records were updated at once. July 16 — +38 degrees, July 17 — +39.2, July 18 — +40, and July 20 — +41.5 degrees.
In Shymkent, the temperature reached +45.2 degrees. The records of 1915 for July 16 and 17 were exceeded — +41.1 and +40.1 degrees.
Astana recorded +38.6 degrees on July 14, and Ust-Kamenogorsk recorded +39.7 degrees on July 16.
In Kyzylorda, the temperature reached +45.2 degrees on July 17, and +47.6 degrees in Turkestan on July 18. The previous record in 2019 was +43.7 degrees.
At the same time, July was distinguished not only by the heat. In some areas, precipitation was several times higher than the climatic norm. For example, in Zhetysai, Turkestan region, the amount of precipitation per month exceeded the norm by 15 times.
