During the visit, the guests got acquainted with the activities of the National Hydrometeorological Service of Kazakhstan. The delegation was presented with the work of Kazhydromet as a key national center for hydrometeorological, climatic and environmental information.
The Secretary General was particularly interested in the laboratory where water and air samples are analyzed. The delegation members got acquainted in detail with modern methods of environmental and hydrometeorological monitoring.
The delegation also visited the Hydrometeorological Center, where operational weather forecasting is carried out, as well as short- and long-term forecasts are formed.
During the visit, the important role of Kazhydromet in ensuring the safety of the population and supporting the sustainable development of the country was emphasized.
The visit of the WMO Secretary General and Permanent Representatives confirmed the importance of further strengthening international cooperation and exchange of experience in the field of hydrometeorology and climate monitoring.
