An important part of the meeting was the discussion of the exchange of hydrological information. The Finnish Ministry of Foreign Affairs presented opportunities to deepen cooperation in this area, emphasizing the importance of transparent and timely data exchange to improve the effectiveness of regional early warning systems.
The United Nations Economic Commission for Europe made a presentation on cross-border cooperation in the field of hydrology, where the mechanisms of international cooperation and successful examples of integration of efforts from different countries were considered.
Of particular interest was the presentation of the Finnish Institute of the Environment (SYKE), whose specialists shared practical experience in organizing regional mechanisms for the exchange of hydrological information using the example of the Sava River basin.
During the discussions, the participants exchanged views and experiences, identified key areas for further cooperation, and stressed the need to develop sustainable channels for the exchange of hydrological data. The delegates noted that such an exchange not only contributes to improving the quality of forecasts, but also plays an important role in strengthening regional partnerships and joint implementation of global initiatives in the field of climate sustainability.
