It is planned to review and update the network of stationary posts monitoring the state of atmospheric air in Astana. This decision was made due to the fact that some of the existing stations may provide incomplete data due to changes in urban development.
Currently, there are 10 fixed posts in the capital. Six of them are automatic and capture data every 20 minutes. However, many posts were established more than ten years ago. During this time, new residential and infrastructure facilities have appeared nearby. This may distort the indicators and not give a complete picture of the real air quality.
According to the results of environmental monitoring for 2024, excess amounts for a number of substances were recorded in Astana. The air quality situation in the capital is not the worst in the country, but even better in a number of indicators than in other megacities.
However, to obtain a complete and objective picture, it is necessary to update the location of checkpoints.
The work on updating the air monitoring system will be carried out in stages jointly with the Akimat of Astana with the involvement of specialists and scientific organizations.
According to experts, such factors can affect the objectivity of monitoring — the data reflect the air condition only in certain points, but do not give a complete picture of the city.
