As of March 20, 2026, soil freezing is observed in most of the country, thawed soil only in the southwest and south of the country in Atyrau, Mangistau, Kyzylorda, Turkestan, Zhambyl and partly in Almaty regions.

In the northern part of the country, the freezing continues to increase. The maximum freezing depth in the north-east, north-west and in the center of the country: in Pavlodar up to 248 cm (2025 - up to 150 cm), in Kostanay up to 233 cm (2025 - up to 168 cm), in Akmola up to 187 cm (2025 - up to 160 cm), in the North-Kazakhstan up to 201 cm (2025 - up to 104 cm), in Karaganda up to 150 cm (2025 - up to 125 cm).

In the Almaty region, frozen soil persists in Zhambyl, Kegen and Rayymbek districts to a depth of 3-23 cm.

In the Zhetysu region, active thawing of the soil is noted, freezing is 4-39cm.
