Director of the Department of Hydrology of Kazhydromet participated in the international WMO seminar on FFGS system

Director of the Department of Hydrology of Kazhydromet Serikbai Nurgalym Tajibayuli participated in an international seminar on training instructors in the Flash Flood Warning System (FFGS).
The workshop was organized on behalf of the World Meteorological Organization (WMO) and conducted by the India Meteorological Department (IMD) under the Ministry of Earth Sciences of the Government of India. The event took place on February 18-20, 2026 in New Delhi.
The workshop was attended by FFGS certified instructors from the participating countries of the program. The main purpose of the meeting was to improve the skills of specialists, exchange experience on improving the flash flood early warning system, and discuss modern tools for forecasting and assessing hydrological risks.
The program considered practical aspects of the FFGS system, methods for analyzing hydrometeorological data, and issues related to improving the effectiveness of emergency prevention related to flash floods.
The participation of a representative of Kazhydromet in this international seminar made it possible to exchange experiences with foreign colleagues and get acquainted with modern approaches to forecasting flash floods. The acquired knowledge and practical developments will be used to further improve the system of hydrological monitoring and early warning of natural hazards in Kazakhstan.
