During the tour, the guests got acquainted with the history of the formation of the national hydrometeorological service. Experts told about when the first weather station was opened in the country, how the observation network was formed and how many meteorological stations are operating throughout Kazakhstan today. The undergraduates learned how the weather and climate monitoring system has evolved over time.
Special attention was paid to the work of the research center. The company's employees spoke about how the state of the Caspian Sea is being studied, Kazakhstan's water resources are being assessed, and climate change is being monitored.
In addition, the undergraduates visited the Hydrometeorological Center, where they were told in detail about the process of preparing weather forecasts. They saw how experts analyze incoming information, work with numerical models, and generate short- and long-term forecasts based on complex data.
The visit took place in an atmosphere of open dialogue. Future government officials asked a number of questions about current challenges in the field of hydrometeorology and the prospects for the development of the industry. Such meetings contribute to the formation of professional interest in the issues of climate, water resources and sustainable development of the country.
