Minister of Ecology and Natural Resources of the Republic of Kazakhstan Yerlan Nysanbayev met with President of the World Meteorological Organization Dr. Abdullah Ahmed Al-Mandous in Astana.
The parties discussed prospects for further cooperation within the framework of the WMO, stressed the importance of the activities of National Hydrometeorological Services and the exchange of best practices in the field of meteorology and climatology.
Yerlan Nysanbayev noted: "We highly appreciate the key role that the hydrometeorological service plays in ensuring all sectors of the economy and protecting the lives of the population. Kazakhstan considers the implementation of the WMO's "Early Warning for All" initiative as a priority in matters of national climate and environmental security.
Following the meeting, the parties expressed their willingness to strengthen partnership and jointly promote sustainable development, as well as increase efficiency in ensuring reliable monitoring, analysis and forecasting of hydrometeorological conditions.
