50 years ago, in August 1972, the scientific staff of the Kazakh Research Hydrometeorological Institute conducted the first experiment (out of five) on artificial reproduction of mudflows in natural conditions. It was necessary to find out how the water current turns into mudstone, the size of which blocks can exceed 10 meters. For this purpose, not only specially designed instruments were used, but also filming. Part of the filming was used to create a popular science film "The Word about the Mudflow". Prior to these experiments, most of the researchers involved in the problem of mudflows had not seen a "live" mudflow. This made it difficult not only to design and build self-protective structures, but also to develop rules for self-preservation of people from mudslides. Everyone needs to know these rules: from a child to an adult. This has now become possible. The film, after restoration, became available on our YouTube channel, which can be viewed by clicking on the link
