RSE "Kazhydromet" takes part in the preparation for the spring flood period of 2022!

In the period from January 25 to 26, 2022, specialists of RSE "Kazhydromet" took part in an instructional and methodological lesson conducted by the Ministry of Emergency Situations of the Republic of Kazakhstan on the topic "Using the capabilities of space monitoring of JSC NC "Kazakhstan-Garysh Sapary" to assess the flood situation and organize interaction with units of RSE "Kazhydromet", the Water Resources Committee on the management of reservoir filling in the pre-flood period.
Specialists of RSE "Kazhydromet" presented reports on hydrometeorological information provided, forecasts of spring flood/flood runoff, application of numerical methods of hydrological forecasting, data from satellite observations of snow cover, on the main hydrometric works, as well as on products produced by the Hydrometeorological Service, on the current hydrometeorological situation before the spring flood period of 2022.
Also, RSE "Kazhydromet" presented reports on updated guidance documents on forecasting the flow of spring flood of lowland and mountain rivers of Kazakhstan, adapting numerical models for forecasting the flow of lowland and mountain rivers of Kazakhstan - HBV, SWIM. Also, methodological developments developed by the research center on the forecast of water inflow to the Verkhne-Tobolsk and Karatomar reservoirs in the Kostanay region and water inflow to the Aktobe and Kargalinsky reservoirs in the Aktobe region, which will be tested in the upcoming flood period, are presented.
Also, the participants of the seminar discussed pressing issues concerning the algorithm of interaction during the spring flood.   
The participants noted the importance and timeliness of holding joint seminars and instructor-methodical classes, which in turn contribute to strengthening interdepartmental coordination between various responsible structures during spring floods.
